A sophisticated new site for Bill’s

Hero 2

The brief

If there’s one thing you need to know about Bill, it’s that he knows how to grow things. Starting out growing vegetables from scratch with his father, Bill opened his first cafe and shop in 2001. From that seed, a hugely successful and well-loved chain of restaurants grew.

Bill’s came to us when they realised that their digital limitations were hindering their next phase of growth in the casual dining market. They wanted a website that better fit the needs of their guests and their business, and a wider digital strategy to return maximum ROI for their online presence.

A shiny new site

The Bill’s website was showing signs of aging; a desktop-first design that was at odds with their mostly mobile audience, unintuitive to navigate, and challenging to execute development changes.

We put forward a mobile-first web solution that put guests’ needs at the forefront, optimising for speed and completely refreshing the look and feel. The experience is now seamless

We were impressed by Engage’s understanding and passion for our business. Their experience in digital marketing and our sector from a strategic and performance point of view, made them the perfect partner for us.

A new brand for Bill’s

We came on board at the perfect time, with Bill’s undergoing a branding change at the same time as the new website was going live. With their new look, we’re seeing a more sophisticated Bill’s that’s ready to serve you for any occasion - from casual brunch to evening drinks to Sunday dinner with the family - and the website needed to reflect that. Using the new Bill’s colourway and beautiful lifestyle photography, we designed a website that mirrors their ‘all day and into the night’ philosophy, enticing guests for any occasion.

An individual experience

Bill’s aim is to make every one of their restaurants feel like your local, harking back to the time of Bill’s first cafe in Lewes. Guests can expect a personal service when they come in to dine, and we wanted to mirror that with the website.

The ‘Find Your Bill’s’ page was populated with richer content and, once you’ve selected your chosen restaurant, the rest of the website content reflects that - from website prices to booking. Just like in the restaurant, it’s the little touches that make the difference.

Behind the scenes

The website came complete with a custom CMS that allowed the Bill’s team to manage menus, promotions, locations and other key content independently, and mindful future proofing to make ongoing development as easy as possible.
