A spark of kindness: festive volunteering for the Firefighters Charity
Roughly a 3 minute read by Tom
Just before Christmas, our Head of Marketing, Yas, and Operations Director, Tom, took part in a volunteering day at their local fire station in Moortown, in support of the local community and the Firefighters Charity.
The community day was designed to be a fun and festive event, with a Santa’s grotto, games, prizes and activities, and the opportunity to meet the fire crews and explore the fire station and engines. Yas and Tom were part of the team responsible for transforming the fire station garden into a magical and festive Grotto area - no easy feat in the dark and freezing temperatures!
On the day of the event, there was a great turnout from the community - over 200 families attended, many who were struggling to provide festivities for their children due to the cost of living crisis. It was heartwarming to see so many children enjoying the day, and the event was a great reminder of how important it is to come together and support each other during difficult times.
The money raised went to support the Firefighters Charity, which provides crucial support to working and retired firefighters, and their families, supporting rehabilitation for injuries on the job, as well as mental health support for those experiencing PTSD and other traumatic experiences. We’re so proud to have been able to support this important cause.
Tom shared his thoughts on the experience, saying, “It was really fun building the grotto, and I’m so proud of what we achieved as a team. But the most rewarding part of the day was seeing the families enjoying themselves and knowing that we were able to make their Christmas just a little bit brighter”
At Engage, we are committed to giving back to our community, and that’s why we have launched our Force For Good initiative. We provide paid time off for our team members to volunteer and help out at a local good cause of their choice. We believe that by working together, we can create a better future for everyone, and we are so proud to have been a part of this incredible initiative.
So, if you’re looking for a way to make a difference in your community, why not consider volunteering? Whether it’s for a charity event or a local cause close to your heart, every little bit counts. Let’s spread kindness and make the world a better place, one good deed at a time!
